BEHIND THE SCENES WITH MUSIC RAYY
Raymond “Music Rayy” Robinson was born and raised in the DMV (Prince George’s
County). Once Rayy reached middle school, his mom became friends with an older couple who played with and befriended musicians such as Miles Davis, Chuck Brown,
and Shirley Horn. Mrs. Floyd played piano and her husband Mr. Maurice played saxophone. She took Rayy
under her wing and began to teach him the ways of jazz.
Unfortunately, they passed away when he started high school. However, his upbringing lead to a life of musicianship development as he grew older. Rayy now has graduated from UMBC with two B.As (Music Technology, Jazz Studies) and a Masters in the
Art of Teaching.
During his time in undergraduate and graduate school, Rayy has experimented with different artists names such as RFLN, as he released multiple experimental RnB projects. His first single at 18 years old, “Persuasions in Georgia”, was a song he made for his tech studies.
Music Rayy has performed/worked beside many familiar faces around both the Washington D.C and Baltimore areas such (Marcus Johnson, Funsho, Lightshow, Visto HLK, Jay IDK, ABM Band, New Impressionz, Malik "DOPE" Drummer, etc...) .
Notable projects during Rayy's early education are The Free Love Ep, duo project with NBC's The Voice contestant Funsho, and his latest Ep
Rayy’s World Vol 1.
Currently, Music Rayy has been focused on his craft and school while producing and performing. Music Rayy will be started his first Public School music teacher position this fall in Laurel, MD. He looks to create more saxophone related content in the near future. For now, he has a youtube channel, “Music Rayy”, where he covers popular songs on saxophone.
